Services for Oil and Gas Processing and Chemical Enterprises

Organization of Temporary Compressed Air Supply Systems

Modern manufacturing enterprises have dozens and hundreds of technological processes, the efficiency and reliability of which directly depend on a reliable source of dry compressed air.

Oil and gas processing and chemical enterprises use compressed air to power pneumatic automatic regulation and control systems during the regeneration of catalysts, adsorbents, optimization of combustion processes, annealing of coke deposits, etc.

For critical technological processes, as a rule, there are two independent centralized air supply systems – air for automatic control systems and air for technological needs. Russian industrial safety standards for design and operation prohibit the integration of these systems.

In some cases, the physical and moral deterioration of technological systems for the production, storage and distribution of compressed air can lead to significant losses associated with the downtime of individual production lines or workshops due to the failure of compressed air preparation and production systems.

Gaz Service Consulting LLC offers complex services to provide manufacturing enterprises with temporary dry compressed air production systems for the period of peak loads on the client’s existing equipment, its repair or maintenance. Our equipment can be used to perform work on drying the internal cavity of technological equipment and systems after conducting hydraulic strength and density tests.

Our engineers will help you determine the optimal configuration of the equipment, its performance and a set of additional auxiliary systems (receivers, dehumidifiers, oil traps, filters, etc.).

Contact us to audit the compressed air production, storage and distribution system as well as to assess the possible optimization of the energy consumption of the enterprise for providing compressed air (learn more).

Gaz Service Consulting LLC implements all stages of the compressed air temporary supply project: equipment selection, delivery, installation and connection to the client’s system. Our service team will ensure that the requirements for the safe connection and commissioning of the equipment are met.

Organization of Temporary Systems for Providing Gaseous Nitrogen and Industrial Gases

The provision of nitrogen to oil and gas processing and chemical enterprises is an important process that ensures the safety and quality of the technological process. As a rule, each such enterprise has its own system for the production, storage and distribution of gaseous nitrogen. The technology of nitrogen production directly depends on the purposes for which nitrogen is used in the technological cycle. If the use of nitrogen is limited to the creation of an inert environment and the crimping of technological circuits, its quality may be limited to 95-98%. If nitrogen is used in the reactivation processes of the catalyst and adsorbent and is in direct contact with these materials, its quality requirements can reach 99.999%.

Gaz Service Consulting LLC uses two main technologies to organize temporary nitrogen supply schemes:

  • Cryogenic liquid nitrogen gasification (concentration 99.95%, dew point temperature not higher than -60°C). The production of gaseous nitrogen by this method is carried out using Mobile Nitrogen Gasifiers consisting of a cryogenic tank and heat exchange equipment used to change aggregate nitrogen from liquid to gaseous. The equipment can be installed on a semi-trailer platform for its delivery to hard-to-reach locations. The capacity of the cryogenic liquid nitrogen tank is 15 tons (about 12,000 nm3). The capacity of the evaporator for the gasification of liquid nitrogen provides a gas consumption of up to 2000 nm3/hour. The maximum operating pressure of the MNG is up to 23 bar. For the production of nitrogen using MNG, it is necessary to ensure the delivery of liquid nitrogen to the work site. This method is economically justified if there are enterprises producing liquid nitrogen located at a distance of no more than 1000 km from the place of work. The MNG has a high degree of readiness for work and the production of nitrogen gas can be started within 20-30 minutes from the moment of arrival at the site. The nitrogen injection line is connected using quick-release threaded connections. MNG does not require the provision of electricity and diesel fuel. If necessary, in a similar way, we can provide your company with temporary systems for receiving, storing and dispensing argon and oxygen.
  • Production of nitrogen gas from the air by short-cycle adsorption. Gaz Service Consulting LLC uses this technology for projects in remote locations as well as those requiring significant amounts of gaseous nitrogen (more than 60,000 nm3). This technology ensures the production of nitrogen with 98% purity from the air, the maximum operating pressure is 8-10 bar and the dew point temperature is not higher than -20°C. The nitrogen production plant consists of an air compressor, a desiccant and a modular adsorption unit. The nitrogen injection line is connected using quick-release threaded connections. The unit has a built-in system that controls humidity (dew point temperature) and the concentration of nitrogen produced.

Inspection and engineering audit of the condition of systems for the production, storage and distribution of compressed air, industrial gases (oxygen, nitrogen, argon and carbon dioxide) and hydrocarbon gases. Identification of leak sites, reduction of losses and energy consumption

Conducting Hydraulic and Pneumatic Tests of Technological Equipment and Systems

In the process of performing major repairs and maintenance of technological equipment, it is mandatory to perform a high-pressure test of the system. This is necessary to confirm the density and strength of the system.

To date, there are two methods of performing these tests:

  • Hydraulic tests – by liquid pressure, usually water
  • Pneumatic tests – by the pressure of compressed air or nitrogen and there are also cases of using a nitrogen-helium mixture

Performing strength and density tests is a necessary procedure that testifies to the reliability of equipment and pipelines operating under pressure throughout their entire service life. It is extremely important, given the serious danger to human life and health in the event of malfunctions and accidents.

Pressure testing is carried out in accordance with the applicable codes of practice, guidance documents and instructions that ensure the safety of work. The test pressure is called a calibration pressure and it usually exceeds the operating pressure by 1.25 times.

Pneumatic tests are works of higher danger than hydraulic ones since a system filled with compressed gas has a higher energy potential compared to water. Precautions during pressure testing should include the necessary measures to ensure the safety of personnel and the safety of equipment. At the time of the tests, security zones are mandatory, in which personnel are not allowed to stay.

Gaz Service Consulting LLC has the ability to conduct hydraulic and pneumatic tests using modern and reliable equipment that ensures effective high-pressure testing. The personnel involved in conducting the tests are trained in the techniques of safe work.

Hydraulic tests are carried out using three-plunger pumps SIN-32, providing a maximum operating pressure of 320 bar and water flow up to 90 m3/hour.

Pneumatic tests are carried out using cryogenic piston pumps, which provide a maximum operating pressure of up to 200 bar and a nitrogen gas flow rate of up to 1000 Nm3/hour.

The main equipment used to perform pneumatic and hydraulic tests is mounted on the chassis of a truck, which ensures high mobility and speed of deployment of the test complex.

The use of high-performance equipment for injecting nitrogen into the internal cavity of technological systems as well as the possibility of supplying dry nitrogen with a dew point temperature of up to -60°C significantly reduce the duration of work and eliminate the need for drying, which is mandatory after hydraulic tests with water. Besides, it does not require time and resources to create an inert environment in the internal cavities of the system.
